Info
Special events are activities (e.g. parades, sporting events, concerts, community events, etc.) that create unusual traffic impacts different from the typical day.
There about 2,500 special events held in the City of Los Angeles every year.
LADOT assesses potential traffic impacts for each special event, develops plans to minimize traffic congestion, and posts temporary parking restrictions as well as deploys traffic officers and engineers to manage traffic before, during, and after a special event.
There are THREE types of special event permits:
- Parades and public assembly permits are issued by the Police Commission.
- Filming permits are issued by Film L.A.
- All other special event permits (street closures) are issued by the Bureau of Street Services.
